Oblique aerial photograph taken by Leo Swan of Dublin city and the River Liffey, viewed from the N. The Four Courts building, Inns Quay, seen in the centre foreground of this photograph, occupies the site of the Chapel of St. Saviour which was given to the Dominicans in 1224. Christchurch Cathedral and the Civic Offices (in front of the cathedral) are visible in the top left of the photograph. The Civic Offices were built on the site of the settlement established by the Vikings. Archaeological excavations in the 1970's revealed a period of occupation in this area from the 10th to the 13th century by the vikings and Norman.
